Live 8 United States - Philadelphia, Benjamin Franklin Parkway
The
US Live 8 concerts were hosted in the City of Brotherly Love,
Philadelphia. Home to the original Live Aid concert, Philadelphia
was proud to be a part of history once again for the Live 8 concert.
The Live Aid concert in 1985 was held at the JFK Stadium.
This time around the Live 8 event will be held at the Philadelphia
Museum of Art located in the Benjamin Franklin Parkway
Benjamin Franklin Parkway is considered Philadelphia's Champs Elysees
-- or its Pennsylvania Avenue. Benjamin Franklin Parkway offered
a wonderful background for the world class Live 8 concert. There
are fine buildings such as the Rodin Museum, the Philadelphia
Museum of Art, and of course the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul. Fountains,
statues, monuments and small parks all lend a formality that gives the Parkway
its own special atmosphere and making for a fitting place
for such a spectacular event.
The US Live 8 concert on July
2, 2005 in Philadelphia included Alicia Keys, Bon Jovi, Dave Matthews Band, Destiny's Child, Jay-Z, Kaiser
Chiefs, Linkin Park, Maroon 5, Rob Thomas, Sarah Mclachlan,
Keith Urban, Stevie Wonder, and Will Smith.
