Coldplay at Live 8
Since the release of A
Rush Of Blood To The Head, Coldplay has also been actively supporting
various social and political causes. Coldplay has been advocates for Oxfam's
Make Trade Fair campaign and Amnesty International. Coldplay also performed
at various charity projects such as Band Aid 20, the Teenage Cancer
Trust and Live 8.
Coldplay's early work was similar to Travis, Radiohead,
Oasis, and Jeff Buckley.
Coldplay was also influenced by R.E.M, Pink
Floyd, U2, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, Tom Waits,
The Flaming Lips, and Neil Young.
Coldplay's Lead singer Chris Martin, in particular, earned a notch
on the celebrity scale by marrying actress Gwyneth Paltrow in December
of 2003. Gwyneth Paltrow gave birth to the couple's first daughter, Apple
Blythe Alison Martin, the following April.
