Elton John at Live 8
Composer, actor, producer and entertainer, Elton
John showed that he still had what is takes this July 2nd.
Elton John's long string of musical projects and hit records have made
an indelible mark in the music industry. From Elton's flamboyant fashion
sense, on-stage showmanship, he has withstood the test of time.
Elton John completely dominated the rock world during the '70s. He set
the world on fire with seven consecutive albums that topped the charts
including Honky Ch�teau, Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player, Goodbye
Yellow Brick Road, Caribou, Elton John's Greatest Hits , Captain Fantastic
and the Brown Dirt Cowboy and Rock of the Westies.
Elton John is best known for his hits: "Bennie and the Jets�, �Crocodile
Rock", "Island Girl�, "Philadelphia Freedom�, "Lucy
in the Sky With Diamonds�, and "Don�t Go Breaking My Heart".
Elton John was at the original Live Aid in 1985 at Wembley Stadium and
the world stood still as he and George Michael did duet with his song
�Don�t Let the Sun Go Down on Me�.
Elton John covered two of his classic tracks, "The Bitch is Back",
and "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting". As usual, Elton
did a wonderful job.
Elton was next joined on stage by Pete Doherty Babyshambles. (Pete was
invited to perform by Bob Geldof's daughter Pixie.)
The lackluster performance duet was considered my many to be poorly constructed
mess. Pete didn't seem to know the words to the song, and didn't seem
prepared to play to crowd in Hyde Park.
Pete blamed his less than stellar performance on nerves and an alleged
pass that Pixie made at him just prior to him going on stage.
