Live8.Live
concert reviews and stories (cont.)
Tom Burtonwood, Surrey
I watched the show on the big screen in Manchester. The Sgt
Pepper Lonely Hearts Club song really hit the spot. I wished
someone would have told Phil Collins to show up at live8 and
where was Status Quo? The day could have used Eric Clapton.
Bob Geldof is a turn for not letting them play again. I hope
this makes a difference, but who knows. Can't blame a guy
for tryin'.
Larry Magid, Philadelphia, USA
The live8 concert in USA was probably the best organized event
ever. No there wasn't a bathroom in sight, but the day was
great. Although the weather was a little warm, the firemen
hosed people off as we watched Beyonce and Destiny's Child
shake their moneymaker. Bon Jovi was well rehearsed and Linkin
Park was the absolute bomb.
Jerome Flynn, Southhampton, UK
The live8 show was the tops. I can't think that anyone will
ever beat it. I watched the show at Hyde Park and can't say
I can remember a nicer bunch of people to hang out with. Everyone
in the park was on their best behavior and the show was top
notch. It looks like London got all the top acts and the other
countries at live8 didn't get as much. I took in a small video
camera and got some great footage of Pink Floyd. Their set
was flawless. I used to like Mariah Carey, but after today
- no more.
John Bonnono, Kent
Live8 London was by far the best show. When do the DVD's come
out and how do I get one? What happened to Russia live8? It
doesn't look like anyone big wanted to play there. Too bad,
it would have been cool to see Led Zeppelin re-form to play
Red Square. Jason Bonham could have played drums.
Anthony Trinh, Liverpool, UK
Brilliant, simply brilliant. What a wonderful day watching
the live8 show. One great act after another. The Killers were
by far my favorite. Robbie Williams is a great stand in for
Freddie Mercury. It was cool seeing green Day Playing from
Germany live8live.
Brooke Garcia, Roma, Italy
Duran Duran is the best band ever. I was at the Circus Maximus
to watch Simon Le Bon do his thing. Although John Taylor doesn't
know it, he could be the father of all my children. The USA
video feed of live8 wasn't the best. You would think that
they would have gotten at least the Rolling Stones. Where
the heck was Sheryl Crow?
Andrea Spivak, New York, USA
I flew down just to see Stevie Wonder and it was well worth
the flight and the wait. Luckily I was wearing black pants.
It was close to the end of the concert and I had to use the
bathroom. I didn't want to miss Steve, so I stood there under
the shade of a tree at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and peed
my pants. Nobody knew. Who cares it's a once in a lifetime
concert and I got to see him
Kristy Cashman, Tonbridge
Elton John was brilliant. I can die now.
Shannon Gamache, London, England
U2 and Coldplay were by far the best acts of the day. Paul
McCartney is an idiot. Who does he think he is, he has to
open AND close the show. Pink Floyd should have done THE TIDE
IS TURNING.
Mike Mitchell, York
The live8 show at Hyde Park was absolutely awesome! Dido,
REM, U2, and Macca were the best for the day. Green Day was
cool. I got a live8 beach ball. I almost sold my live8 tickets
on e-Bay. I am glad I came. I think the Live8 DVD set is coming
out this Christmas. I will be getting one for each of my friends.
Who knows, maybe they can do a concert next year.
Drew Hudson, North Platte
Where is Robert Plant? I was hoping that he could make it
this time around solo. His new band is great and I would have
liked to hear him play Stairway to Heaven once more. What
a great cause. I hope that all the people remember the live8
day and I hope they offer up all these events on DVD.
Kim Provence, Rodez
The trip to live8live Versailles was well worth it. I can't
imagine that I will ever go to a concert with more life than
this event. The Green Day video was cool. I saw Paul McCartney,
but where is Ringo. Bono is no replacement for Harrison or
Lennon and I thought he should have allowed Ringo to play
along side him in the suit.
Chris Stevens, Quebec, Canada
For those who need a geography lesson, Barrie is NOT Toronto.
All day long they announced that they were in Toronto. Toronto
is about an hour and a half away. Anyway Jann Arden was great,
so was Simple Plan and Deep Purple. I have never hear Sam
Roberts, but I bought his CD after the show. I hear that the
live8live DVD set will be out soon. They better include ALL
the acts. Run DMC was horrible.
Richard Onofrio, Sandy Lake, Canada
The Great Big Sea were my favorite act. My wife is from Ireland
and they made me think of her. She couldn't make the show,
as she was about to go into labor before I left with my brother
to see Neil Young. She was not happy and she gave birth to
our son as I was driving back from Park Place. His name is
David Neil Onorio, a little tribute to Neil Young.
